OYF Prepares for 2008 Season
![]() The 2008 season is rapidly approaching and OYF committee members from the various districts are working hard to provide quality experiences for the youth of our communities this fall. From sign-ups to coaching clinics, the spring and summer are busy for those who assist in the administration of the Optimist Football and Cheer Programs. Thanks to our many sponsors and volunteers, more than 4500 youth will participate in the OYF program in 2008.

Just a little about Optimist Youth Football... From its beginning in 1949, the Boise Noon Optimist Youth Football Program has steadfastly adhered to a rather "unique" philosophy. There is no goal of sending a team to any regional or national championship. There are no traveling teams with paid coaching staffs. There are no All-Star Teams. Players do not "try out" and they are not categorized as "major" or "minor". Instead, Optimist teams are formed by neighborhoods according to the player's age, weight, and where they live.
